Since its inception in Canterbury in 1973, the symposium has visited 8 different countries to deliver 714 peer-reviewed technical papers of the highest quality.

Tunnel ventilation is a small part of the cost of a tunnel, however, it is often crucial for sizing the civil engineering works and therefore their cost, and in allowing a given type of traffic. There is an ever increased pressure upon designers and engineers to develop more cost-effective solutions for tunnel construction without compromising safety. BHR Group’s International Symposium on Aerodynamics, Ventilation and Fire in Tunnels has been the premier international event providing delegates with opportunities to discuss new research and developments, to consider innovative solutions and to explore technology breakthroughs. It's technical quality makes this event an essential diary date for everyone concerned with tunnels and tunnelling.

Testimonial - 2019 Conference

Recently I attended the 2019 International Symposium on Aerodynamics, Ventilation & Fire in Tunnels. This was my third attendance at this conference, following on from the 2015 and 2017 events. It was once again a very well organised event, featuring a wide variety of esteemed speakers and high-quality presentations, as well as interesting displays from numerous manufacturers. There was ample time for peer-to-peer networking and the result was an immensely useful snapshot of the current state of the art in tunnel ventilation design and research. I can wholeheartedly recommend this conference to anyone with an interest in the field of tunnel ventilation.
