Its purpose is the development of industrially relevant research, and best guideline practises, for the dispersion of nanoparticles and the delamination of nanoclays in liquids.

BHR Group in Saudi ArabiaJeddah

Director of Water, Environment and Power (WEP), Dr Yolande Herbath, will visit Saudi Arabia in January 2010. Saudi Arabia is the UK’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and the trip has been arranged by UKTI and British water in order to investigate opportunities for companies from the British water industry.

The visit to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam will enable UK participants to discuss the latest developments in the Saudi market, showcase their technical expertise and meet potential business partners and government officials.

According to British water, Saudi Arabia’s water sector is undergoing reform. The Ministry of Water & Electricity is currently privatising the provision of wastewater treatment services within particular regions, and some water supply management contracts have recently been awarded for Riyadh and Jeddah. The cities of Dammam / Al-Khobar, Madinah and other regions will be privatised in 2010/11. With this in mind many local consultants and contractors are seeking to work with international companies who can provide contractual, legal and other services. Providers of technologies and products are also being sought for significant refurbishment and extension projects as well as new projects that will be implemented.

BucharestBHR Group in Romania and Bulgaria

The Commercial Manager of BHR Group’s Water, Environment and Power (WEP) division will visit Romania and Bulgaria from 8th to13th of November 2009.

The trip has been organised by UKTI and British Water in order to explore business opportunities in the water and environment sectors of Romania and Bulgaria.

During the trip Mr. Thomas will present BHR Group’s capabilities to a delegation of important industry stakeholders, at the British embassy in Sofia and Bucharest.

According to British water, the main business opportunities in water and environment in Romania include: rehabilitation of water supply and wastewater networks and treatment facilities, extension of water and wastewater systems together with the upgrading of treatment facilities municipal waste disposal facilities & transfer stations. Reduction of industrial air pollution, greenhouse gases and improvements in local air quality and climate change mitigation are also high on the agenda.Bucharest2 

Opportunities for British companies in Bulgaria include a number of emerging public-private partnerships (PPP) projects with the provision of equipment, project management and supply of consultancy services for the upgrade and extension of existing water and sewage networks along and wastewater treatment plants being of specific interest.

Water, Environment & Power Director, Yolande Herbath attended a meeting with Dr Bibiloni, Secretary of the Environment and Sustainable Development for Argentina during his visit to the UK in September. 

The lunch that was organised and hosted by British Water and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office provided the opportunity for a select group of British companies active in the International Water Sector to discuss commercial opportunities in Argentina.  Discussions centered around the clean-up operation of the Matanza-Riachuelo Basin.
